GLAAD Gala

What do you do when you get invited to a gala at 4pm when it starts at 6?  Thank yourself for always keeping a clean cocktail dress handy!  Through my work with GLOBE & Allies (my LGBT group at work), I know Eric. Eric called me and asked if I was free to go to a gala that night. Someone cancelled and a spot opened up to attend the GLAAD gala.  GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) is the nation's LGBT media advocacy organization and was started in 1985. The organization was hosting an event called Game Changers and my company had sponsored a table.

So I had 2 dress choices. Considering if I didn't know if it was black tie or just really nice dress, I chose the one above, a black peplum dress, with a lace top.

I really wanted to wear this necklace with it, but my gay bff said no :( Who would have known this necklace was too much for a gala?  Oh well, I've worn it to more places than I can name!

I had just ordered THIS STUNNER and had gotten it that day. It's out of stock right now so I'm glad I got it when I did! It was spotlighted in US Weekly and that's how I saw it and I guess why its sold out. I'm saving this dress for a special occasion....like my birthday or NYE! (Or maybe both...ha) Its pretty short, but I can't give it up because its so fun!

The gala was held at the Hilton in Union Square downtown.  

Southwest was a sponsor and they gave everyone a $100 voucher!!!!! Barefoot wine was a sponsor....unfortunately the wine tasted like absolute shit. 

It was hosted by Tamryn Manning (pensatucky from Orange is the New Black). She was either drunk or maybe had snorted something. Or she was really just that ditzy and stupid.

Musical guest was Unique from Glee!

Well, anyways, at least I looked cute!
I had a blast and I was so happy to be invited! It was quite an event :)

FIVE HUNDRED...SAY WHAT?!?!?!

HOLY COW!!! 500 posts! I've written FIVE HUNDRED BLOG POSTS....saaaayy WHHHAAATTT?!?!?!?

This blog has been through a lot, from moving home from London, trials and tribulations of living in a small(er) town again, moving to D.C. and finally resting in my current city of San Francisco.  I don't do it for money or fame, its just fun to write everything down and see where my travels have taken me over the years!  I talk about my sorority, Junior League, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, volunteering, vacations and everything in between.

Junior League of San Francisco

As many of you know, I moved to San Francisco just a few months ago and my boyfriend recently left for a 5 month deployment. I have all of 1 friends here, so I decided that I needed another avenue to make friends! I've always wanted to join Junior League, but I've never had the time or financial resources to join. I know the first year has a massive amount of required activities and you have to achieve a certain number of points to be able to become an official member. Man, its like the first year of joining Phi Mu!

Before I even moved, I researched how to join the San Francisco chapter. Glad I did because I had to make a mandatory meeting in order to be eligible to join and the last one scheduled was 2 weeks after I moved!  Well, I'm happy to report that I've successfully started my first year as a provisional member! I'm really excited to get started with JL and make loads of new friends!
