This is the second year that I laid wreaths at the Arlington National Cemetery as part of Wreaths Across America. I froze my tail off last year. I actually forgot about doing it and planned my birthday weekend that weekend. So I had to do a bit of re-arranging and get up early on Saturday. Luckily, I had some girl friends come up and help out along with my mom and dad also came up! It was really warm this year compared to last, so I overly dressed and I was SO HOT!!! My roommate was in DC on her way to NYC and she said the motorcade had police escorts throughout the city because 18 wheelers are not normally allowed within city limits. She said she teared up and got emotional when I laughed and said I did the same thing when I saw it!
You can volunteer your time or donate to help the cause! Don't live in DC? There are over 600 locations that you can volunteer at. If you can help out, its a really awesome event that happens every year!
Here's a bunch of pictures I took:
Motorcade of motorcycles
Front car
Buses brought VIPs in
Several 18 wheelers brought in the wreaths!
Fly-by by Marine One helicopter
So many thousands of people!
Melissa laying a wreath at Jacob's grave
Yay for friends coming to help you!
