Marine Corps Museum

A while back I took a Sunday afternoon and visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Northern Va. I've always driven on 95 and seen the amazing shape of the museum, especially inspiring when its lit up at night. The shape is reminiscent of the Marines rising the flag at Iwo Jima. It was a pretty amazing museum with LOTS of things to read and experience. It was an amazing historical museum that I recommend anyone stop by and see!

This Day in History v.33

One of the times my mom came to visit, I took her to Greenwich. Now this is a big deal because its SO hard to get to! You have to take the Jubilee line to Canary Warf then the DLR to Greenwich. Quite a pain. Mostly Greenwich is known as the location of the Prime Meridian line (this line divides the world into two hemispheres). It was pretty neat to learn about the history of telling time and learning how people got the time. From my rusty memory, someone had to come from Greenwich into the city yelling the time at certain intervals so people could tell what time it was. Cray-cray.

My mom came on her last visit to London in the summer of 2008. One of our outings, I took her out to Greenwich. I am SO mad that I can't find my pictures from here :/ Maybe they are on my parent's computer or maybe they got lost. Which would be a tragedy, but honestly, my memories are in my head.

While I don't have pictures to prove it, I did straddle this line and actually bent over it!

Friendsgiving 2012

Happy Holidays from NYC!!!!!!! Right now I'm in NYC celebrating Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving) with Hannah, Dana and Will! In August of last year, I visited them for a weekend, its been FAR too long! I also took a trip to NYC back in 2009 to visit my friend Teresa who lived in Hoboken. I had previously visited NYC before when I was interviewing for my Mountbatten Institute experience in London from 2007-2008.

I took the Megabus up to NYC on Thursday morning and am leaving Saturday night. My friends and this city never sleep so I decided to come back on Saturday so I can recoup my liver and life on Sunday. I do love NYC in the Fall time so here's to hoping that NYC can handle us!

I can't wait to recap you on all of the fun I'm having!

iRun Again

This weekend was a relaxing few days where I had absolutely no plan to be anywhere! It was fantastic! So I decided I would do something I've always wanted to do...run on the National Mall. I did 4 miles of sight-seeing and tourist dodging!

All in all it was a super fun and an awesome "bam...I live here!" moment.

A little instagram on ya.

I never realized the reflecting pool was only like 2 inches deep!!

Oh hey there Abe.

Yep, I did this.

Hiking at Great Falls Va

Last weekend the BF and I went hiking at Great Falls Church (the VA side), the weather was a perfect 60 degrees in November..say what?!?!  AND little did we know that all national parks were free on Veterans Day weekend. It was crazy beautiful and I didn't know that sometimes the Falls sometimes flood and it was crazy to think that the water down there could come higher than I was tall! CRAZY.

People were out in full force, people repelling down the rocks, people kayaking, and one guy even on a stand up paddle board into the rapids...CRAY CRAY.

The day wasn't without some craziness...apparently we were hiking where we should NOT have been. Little did we know where we were hiking was a national preserve that was over 200 years old and was a $150 fine, and a prision-able offense...whoopsie. Thankfully the park ranger let us off and we continued with our day. We only saw a little bit of the park, it extended another hour walk north and there was also some sites on the Maryland side. I do one day want to see the Maryland side too!  All in all, it was a great 3 hour hike that at least got us away from drinking at a bar for those 3 hours!
