Who Needs a Royal Baby When You Have Twins?

As much as the Royal Baby news has got me going GaGa, I can't stop fawning over these two cuties! My best friend for high school had twin baby girls this past Saturday! I'm sure she is super happy because they are healthy, but more importantly she is HAPPY THEY ARE OUT. Good lord, these babies were heffers :) Summer was 19 in., 6 lbs 2 oz and Sadie was 19 1/2 in, 5 lbs. 3 oz. GOOD LORD! Two full term babies in her belly!

Mom, Dad and babies are doing great! I still can't believe she has TWO brand new babies! I am super excited that Melissa, Erika and I will be driving to Raleigh next weekend to visit! I can't wait to hold them!

DC Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter

The D.C. Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter had our annual happy hour at Poste this past week. This is normally my FAVORITE happy hour because this place is so magical. Well, only the outdoor courtyard. I usually love sitting outside, its just beautiful. However, this week has been so ridiculously sticky and humid, we just couldn't sit outside...womp womp.

Unlike the NoVa Chapter happy hour last month, we forgot to take a group picture so the above picture will just have to do! BUT we just recently ordered this "soda can" koozie for our chapter and I'm so excited!! We're selling one for $3 and two for $5. So...of course I bought 8, hahaha.

We had a great time together and enjoyed the happy hour specials. A freakish storm with ominous grey clouds meant that we either needed to leave or get stuck. My solution?? Go next door to Shake Shack! Duh. Ha. Shake Shack just recently opened up in the F street area...precariously close to Poste! It was so yummy!

Friday Giggles!

I saw this photo on the internet somewhere and it just made me laugh so much! It reminds me of the year I spent in London (obviously without a car). When I went to visit Croatia and our host mom picked us up from the airport. I hadn't been in a car in so long that I sat like this dog with my face out the window with the air on my face and I was a happy camper!

Barre Classes

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO GET BACK INTO SHAPE?!?!?!? You finally DO get back into the gym and then you can't sit down for 3 days because you literally want to cry every time you get up and sit back down. Its like God is mocking you and laughing at your poor attempt to get back into the gym. UGH. I went to a BodyPump class last Saturday after probably a year and a half hiatus and I couldn't comfortably sit down until Wednesday! Geez! I've put on a few pounds from a bit too many happy hours and I'm attempting to kick my butt in gear to go to the gym instead of sitting home and eating...well, its a painful process.

As part of my new gym routine, I've signed up for a barre class at Studio Body Logic in Ballston. I've taken a class before and this was just as challenging as the one before! If you're never heard of barre, its sort of a mix between ballet and Pilates.

Well, it wasn't as painful as the last time I took it, but I've spent plenty of time with my friend...

Must Do DIY

What a great idea for all those wine corks I've accumulated... I found this art display in the ladies' room in a bar in Newport News, VA. I could totally implement this!! The mens room had a similar concept, but it was beer bottle caps!

Drink the District's Red, White and Brew

I swear, a million people came up to talk t o me about my pretzel necklace. Even more I could hear whispering "there's those pretzel necklaces!". It was kind of weird, but also amazing. I think I have found my new business venture...making pretzel necklaces at all the beer festivals around town! Hannah, her roommate Devon and I attended the Drink the District's Red, White and Brew festival.

It was fun, but it was not the best beer fest I've been to. I would reserve that honor for the Living Social Beerfests. Those are in a better area and there is some shade. This festival was good and in a nice spot (The Yards at the Navy Yard) but the grass was muddy in some areas due to the heavy rains the night before and ABSOLUTELY.NO.SHADE! I'm currently rocking the nastiest sunburn I've had in quite a while. I used sunscreen, but because of the intensity of the sun, I'm now a lobster.

Hannah, Devon and I sweating to death in the heat

There was plenty of good people watching there as well....

Lots of 'bros and girls thinking they were at festivals. Jorts shouldn't exist, especially not in this heat....

Colorful Georgetown

The other day I took a casual walk to Georgetown during lunch at work. Bad, I know! Ha. It was a co-workers birthday and we were getting Georgetown Cupcakes to celebrate. The day was beautiful and we were having a bought of relatively nice weather (not humid...score!!!). So we walked across the bridge and I just had to take these two pictures. The top on is of the kayaks at the boathouse. From my office, I could see the yacht on the right in this bottom picture. Walking across the bridge we could see it was not one, not two, but THREE yachts! A cool couple of million dollars there... Oh to have a Georgetown bank account...
