This Day in History v.5
Pancake day...wtf is that?!?!? Well, let me school you:
There you go, don't you feel smarter? And of course I'm going somewhere with this plot line...2 years ago hannah and I were sitting in a bar eating pancakes and drinking ferociously! We were giving up drinking for Lent and we needed one more night of indulgence. We woke up with the WORST hangovers EVER and we were moderatly glad to be giving up drinking. Yes, the two single beautiful women were giving up drinking...in London...the land of drunks...fabulous idea. No, really it was. No one thought we could do it and we reveled in being able to do it and prove everyone wrong! I just don't know if I'm going to give anything up for Lent this year. Hey, its not like I'm a practicing Catholic anyways so there you go.
What is pancake day? Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent. Its traditional to eat pancakes on this day in the UK.
Why pancakes? Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

Eat up!
I love it when someone insults me. That means that I don't have to be nice anymore.
Longest party title EVER! I think that should go in the Guiness World Records! No you say? Ok well FINE then! Be that way :)
God I LOVE LOVE LOVE themed parties, I wish I could throw themed parties every weekend. I don't know why because I didn't used to like getting dressed up but I guess ever since living in London where just about anything goes in normal life much less with "Fancy Dress" aka themed parties. So I was uber thrilled when Heather decided to have a themed punk rock birthday party. And of course, I already had the perfect outfit in my closet...S-C-O-R-E!!!!!

This Day in History v.6
In February, my friends Maura and Liz and I planned a trip to Berlin, Germany. To sum Berlin up in one word, this word would be "interesting". One thing we learned while we were there was that it was the punk rock capital of the world. Not really, but everyone and we mean EVERYONE was all gothed out and had a plethroa of grommets and piercings and black jinco jeans (yeah, you remember those!) or black skinny jeans with multi-colored spiked mohawks! EEEWWWWW....yuck! My main memories from the trip would be how cold it was, the awseome graffitti everywhere, bears galore, weird clothing, and finding a random Dunkin Donuts in the center of town (big deal, DUH!) Damn, now I wish I had gotten a picture of random people on the street...boo. Guess that's an exucse to return one day!
Many of you don't know that I lived in Germany when the Berlin wall came down. Granted I was just a wee one (5 years old) and don't remember much but I do remember a bit. My dad was stationed at Giesen Germany military base and we hadn't been there long before the wall came down. I think that living abroad for 5 years especially at such a young age really helped shape my mentality and my thought process. For example, I do not automatically think that my way is the best way because living in a country where you are the minority and you can't speak the language really broadens your horizons. Come to think of it, I've spent roughly 25% of my life living abroad which is a truely unique experience.

Grafitti art on the hostel's walls
More amazing art
Our room! How creative!
HA this is how I feel EVERY morning!
Brandenburg Gate
Checkpoint Charlie
A piece of the Berlin Wall. We used to have a small piece of the wall but unfortunatly it got lost in one of our many moves. Oh good ole military movers!
Art painted on pieces of the wall
This identifies where the wall used to stand. This follows the path of the wall throughout the city.
There are these cute german bears littered throughout the city. The bear is on Berlin's flag and coat of arms.
And of course I had to play with it
Copy cat
Even the street lights for walking had bears!
Me, Maura, and Liz at the bar
See something missing? Well, I had given up drinking for Lent and didn't partake in the drinking. Good thing one of us stayed sober so someone could look over the drunk kids trying to lite their absinthe with a lighter!
Who knew there were so many choices of absinthe?
Absinthe!

OOOOHHHHH Pretty in P-I-N-K
Was just on a random site that I found today and I must say I'VE GOT TO HAVE THESE SHOES!!! Actually, it is a perfect site for me...called "Pretty Stylish London...Because the City is Gorgeous". Pretty much wraps up how I feel about London in 8 words or less :) Check it out here.
Snowed-in in Raleigh
What do you get when you have the following ingredients:
5 friends
90 beers
3 boxes of frozen pizza
1 box of brownies
1 quart of Take the Cake icecream
1 box of cheez-its
1 bag of cheetos
Well besides a tummy ache AND a hangover? A really great weekend! We didn't let the forecast of a snowy weekend ruin our plans...especially not with Melissa's 4 wheelin Jeep! We started drinking at 12:45 in the afternoon and didn't stop until after midnight..that's right 12 straight hours of drinking. And watching movies. On the Netflix: The Princess Bride, Monsters Inc, Fried Green Tomatoes. There might have been more but I had to take a teeny tiny nap. Oh and lots and lots and lots of card games and a drunk ghetto scattegories that we created ourselves. I reign as the SPOONS queen and we somehow think Nikki cheated in Apples to Apples....
That is all. Nikki did take a few pictures but she takes a while to post and we might have just been too drunk for those pictures to be allowed public :)
