Random Convention Topics: Phi Mu Foundation

The mission of Phi Mu Foundation is the lifetime development of women through the support of Phi Mu's leadership, scholarship, philanthropic and educational programs.

The biggest impact from foundation is for scholarships.During the 2010-2011 academic year, Phi Mu Foundation awarded 77 scholarships — 48 undergraduate and 29 graduate totaling $69,500 and during the 2011-12 academic year, 105 scholarships — 81 undergraduate and 24 graduate totaling $127,500. For the 2012-2013 academic year, the Foundation will provide $235,750 to 80 undergraduate and 31 graduate students for a total of 111 Phi Mu sisters receiving financial awards.

Phi Mu members are not automatically members of the Foundation. A Phi Mu in good standing becomes a member of Foundation when her cumulative giving level reaches $50.

At convention this year, the purchase of 8,500 Caring Carnations raised $42,500 for the Foundation. With the Marketplace and other fundraising, Phi Mu Foundation experienced the very best of Phi Mu sisterhood and generosity at Convention 2012 with a total of $62,500 raised.

My total lifetime gifts total $602.04...not sure where that 4 cents came from...ha! This year I reached my first giving level milestone and received the Love charm for giving more than $500.
