It's not stealing if...

...its propped against the trash can...or
...sitting there for 2 hours unattended....or
...surrounded by other art carelessly strewn around the place

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I was having a shitty day and suffering from an even shittier commute home when I turned the corner and saw this BEAUTY.....

I may or may not have squealed in delight when I saw this!!!!!! The colors just SCREAMED to me. I instantly cheered up and a smile came to my face. I was very confused because it was proped up against a trashcan in front of another piece of art. Who could be throwing this beautiful piece away? Then the thought occured to me that maybe someone wasn't throwing it away. I mean, it was TOO beautiful to throw away, right?!?!  I parked my car, walked up to it, and looked around for its owner. No one was to be found. I wanted it if it was 'trash' but didn;t want to be caught red handed if it wasn't. I walked back to my car, tried to talk myself out of it. Then I walked back to it. Then I walked back to my car. I must have looked like a crazy person. My better judgement got the best of me and I walked home. But....

I just couldn't stop thinking about it. In my world of grey goverment buildings and hours of commute every day, it lit up my world. I had to have it. Instead I went to yoga. Throughout yoga I couldn't stop thinking about it. So, finally I decided to walk back and if it was still there, I'd 'steal' it. Well, lo and behold it was still there!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Granted, this piece of art (I assume someone painted it) was nearly as tall as me. I'd say its about 5 foot tall. WOW. It was quite a feat for me to carry it up the hill, especially since the wind was blowing and it was nearly blown from my hands. Its sitting comfortably in my room until I can figure out how to hang it. I wake up to it every morning and it puts a smile on my face!! I can't believe someone was going to throw it away. I hope whoever made it knows that its in a happy home now!

One man's trash is another man's treasure. I'm not usually one to pick up items on the side of the road...gross. But I just had to adopt this little 'beaut.

I think I'll call it....Sunny.
